How to get to Elk Island Lodge

Elk Island Lodge is in Northern Manitoba, and the only way to get to our lodge is by air. We have a 4200 foot long runway made from the crushed rock taken from the gold mine site on Elk Island in the early 1900's. The crushed rock is more of a powder now so it will not damage props and it does not get too soft for taking off or landing.

We charter an ATR 42 which is a multi-engine aircraft and can carry up to 40 passengers. The flight from Winnipeg International Airport to Elk Island Lodge is approximately one hour and twenty five minutes. Our flights depart Winnipeg at around 11:30 a.m. every four days. You can arrive in Winnipeg on NorthWest Airlines from such major cities as Chicago, Milwaukee and Minneapolis the morning of your departure date and avoid spending time and money on hotels and meals in Winnipeg. You can leave your home and be fishing in Northern Manitoba at our lodge in the same day.

When you leave Elk Island Lodge you will be back in Winnipeg around 4:30 in the afternoon which makes it possible for you to catch the NorthWest Flight bound for Minneapolis at 6:00 p.m.

For those guests whose flights cannot connect, we are pleased to make reservations for overnight stays in Winnipeg. We recommend the Sheraton Inn as it is attached to the Winnipeg Airport and we have arranged special prices for our guests. The rate for our guests is approximately $110 U.S. (single or double occupancy), but is only available if we book it for you.

For flights to Winnipeg we have arranged for special pricing through a company called Continental Travel. This travel agency offers great advantages, most importantly, you do not have to stay over a Saturday. To contact our travel agency, you can call Continental Travel at 1-866-276-8376 and ask for Silvana G.
